1. About These Terms
These terms govern the relationship between Metta Counsel ("we", "us", "our") and anyone who contacts us or engages our services ("you", "the client"). By making an enquiry or instructing us, you accept these terms. If anything is unclear, please reach out before proceeding — we are glad to explain.
2. Our Services
Metta Counsel provides family legal support services in Thailand, including initial consultations, custody and support arrangement assistance, and mediation support and drafting. Our work is designed to be collaborative, respectful, and attentive to each family's particular circumstances.
We do not provide court representation or act as solicitors of record in litigation. Where a matter requires court proceedings, we will advise you clearly so you can make informed decisions about the right path forward.
3. Engagements and Fees
Each engagement begins with a written confirmation setting out the scope of work and the applicable fee. Fees are as published on our website at the time of booking, unless otherwise agreed in writing. All fees are stated in Thai Baht (THB) inclusive of applicable taxes unless noted otherwise.
Payment is due as agreed at the time of instruction. We accept bank transfer and other methods notified to you at the time of booking. Work commences once payment or a confirmed payment arrangement is in place.
Fees reflect the time and care involved in each service. If a matter becomes more complex than anticipated, we will discuss any change to fees with you before proceeding.
4. Cancellations and Rescheduling
We understand that family circumstances can change quickly. If you need to reschedule an appointment, please let us know as soon as you are able and we will do our best to find a suitable time.
Cancellations made more than 48 hours before a scheduled appointment will receive a full refund or credit. Cancellations made within 48 hours may be subject to a partial fee to cover preparation time already invested. Please contact us to discuss your situation — we will always try to be as accommodating as we reasonably can.
5. Confidentiality
Everything shared with us during an engagement is treated with care and discretion. We do not disclose client information to third parties except where required by Thai law or expressly authorised by you. Our approach to privacy is set out more fully in our Privacy Policy.
6. Conduct of Work
Our work moves at a pace that suits the family involved. We will keep you informed of progress and will not act in a way that goes beyond the agreed scope without your knowledge and consent.
We ask that clients engage with us in good faith and provide accurate information. We cannot be responsible for outcomes arising from information that is withheld or incorrect.
7. Limitation of Liability
We take our work seriously and aim to provide considered, careful support. However, the outcomes of family matters depend on many factors beyond our control, including the decisions of courts, government agencies, and other parties.
Our liability to you is limited to the fees paid for the specific service in question. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses. Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud or where limitation is not permitted by law.
8. Intellectual Property
Documents, written summaries, and other materials we prepare for you are provided for your personal use in connection with your family matter. They may not be reproduced, shared with third parties, or used for commercial purposes without our written consent.
9. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Kingdom of Thailand. Any dispute arising from our engagement will be subject to the jurisdiction of the Thai courts, unless we agree in writing to an alternative resolution process.
10. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The version in effect at the time of your engagement applies to that engagement. Current terms are always available on our website.
